The third National Space Conference (NSC) is scheduled to be held at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria from 20 – 22 August 2025.

Organised by the National Earth Observations and Space Secretariat (NEOSS)) and the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) on behalf of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), in collaboration with key national partners including the South African Air Force (SAAF), the NSC 2025 will convene under the theme: “Space for Societal Resilience, Transformation and Intelligence”.

As South Africa and the world face growing complexity, from climate change and urbanisation to energy transitions and food system vulnerabilities, the integration of space science, Earth observation, and digital intelligence has become indispensable. NSC 2025 will advance this agenda by spotlighting the role of space in strengthening public services, enhancing national resilience, and accelerating inclusive development.

The conference offers a strategic national platform for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration. It brings together stakeholders across government, academia, industry, civil society, and youth to explore how space-based tools can be applied to South Africa’s most pressing development priorities. By doing so, it fosters a cohesive and forward-looking space ecosystem aligned to national objectives.
